The Zyoptix System is the brand name of a system which uses wavefront technology to create a customized map of the optic irregularities of a patient's cornea that can be used to guide laser vision correction surgery. The Zyoptix System enables the doctor to use wavefront-guided laser vision correction treatment which follows your customized individual treatment plan.

What Does the Zyoptix System have to do with LASIK?
Bausch & Lomb LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is the traditional laser vision correction procedure used to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism (irregularly shaped eye which causes blurred or double vision). Zyoptix takes LASIK to a whole other level by providing the ophthalmologist with additional information about the location of optical distortion in the eye so that can be treated along with simpler vision problems.

Who Can Have Zyoptix?
Many people who are candidates for a LASIK vision correction procedure are a candidates for Zyoptix. Zyoptix just includes additional technology which gives your ophthalmologist even more information about your eyes and so that even more vision problems may be corrected, giving you the ability to get clearer, crisper vision than was ever possible with traditional LASIK alone.

What Technology is used in Zyoptix?
Zyoptix uses a technique which tracks your eye movements in different dimensions. Then it centers the laser beam that is used to give you precision results. The laser’s ablations (surgical vaporizations by a laser in order to sculpt the cornea for laser vision correction) are very smooth which promotes better healing and improved visual results.

Zyoptix uses a combination of one and two millimeter laser spot sizes to match each patient’s unique requirements, thus offering a more exact treatment.

For appropriate candidates, Zyoptix minimizes the risk of complications or side effects such as glare, halos, or night vision problems, and the recovery period is brief.

If you are looking for freedom from your glasses and contact lenses but are not a candidate for traditional LASIK or other laser vision correction treatments or simply want more from your LASIK treatment, you may be a candidate for Zyoptix.
