Oculoplastic and Orbital surgeon
Dr. Shoaib Ugradar is an oculoplastic and orbital surgeon seeing patients at Davidorf Eye Group in West Hills. His practice is built around problems where the anatomy is delicate and the margin for error is small: thyroid eye disease, complex eyelid and orbital reconstruction, and revision surgery after previous procedures.
A substantial portion of his practice arrives by referral from other physicians. He accepts referrals for functional eyelid surgery — ptosis, dermatochalasis with superior visual field loss, ectropion and entropion — along with epiphora and lacrimal obstruction, eyelid lesions and reconstruction following Mohs excision, orbital tumors, fractures and trauma, and second opinions before another surgeon operates.
Thyroid eye disease is a particular focus. Dr. Ugradar has published extensively on the condition and on IGF-1R, the receptor that drives the orbital inflammation and tissue expansion underlying TED, and he contributed to national guidelines for its management. IGF-1R–targeted infusion therapy is administered on site, so patients are evaluated, treated and monitored in one place rather than being sent to a third-party infusion center. Patients whose vision or ocular motility is changing week to week can be seen urgently.
Dr. Ugradar trained at the University of London and completed his ophthalmology residency at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He went on to a research fellowship at UCLA and an ASOPRS fellowship in oculoplastic surgery in Beverly Hills under Drs. Guy Massry and Raymond Douglas, and served five years as an Associate Professor at UCLA. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and is one of only five members in the history of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to receive the society’s Research Award more than once.
Referring physicians receive a letter after the consultation and again after any procedure — what was found, what was done, and what is recommended going forward. Patients return to the referring doctor for their ongoing eye care.
